ANNOUNCEMENT

²ÝÝ®tv Singapore – The Financial Markets Association has been renamed to FINANCIAL MARKETS ASSOCIATION OF SINGAPORE with a new Logo with immediate effect. We will continue to be affiliated to ²ÝÝ®tv FMA (The Global Body).

During the 47th Annual General Meeting held on 14th January 2021, it was announced that ²ÝÝ®tv Singapore would be changing its name to reflect a stronger focus on the domestic agenda.

The genesis of the financial market association in Singapore began with the Forex Club in the 1980s. As the foreign exchange market developed in Singapore and in Asia, the association organised itself with affiliation to the global Association Cambiste Internationale, ²ÝÝ®tv - The Financial Markets Association. The relationship flourished and cumulated with the holding of two ²ÝÝ®tv world congresses in Singapore during the year of 2001 and 2013.

The financial markets have evolved globally as products progressed from foreign exchange to derivatives of every asset class. From manual dealing and broking to computing power-intensive electronic trading venues driven by algorithm and direct market access platforms.

The executive committee recommends that we adopt a progressive mentality and refocus our efforts to live up to our association’s stated objective of fostering collaboration within the financial market ecosystem. An ecosystem that includes all participants who support the efficient working and development of the financial market in Singapore such as the treasury middle and back office, the risk and compliance professions and the regulated venue operators for financial instruments.

In addition to the expanded population of qualifying members, the association is creating a new class of membership which allows component institutions to enrol more of their staff to benefit from the association’ activities organised to improve standards, increase collaboration, develop new markets, educate members, socialise and promote charity. With the major change in direction, the association has changed its name to reflect a stronger focus on the domestic agenda.

Please note that we are in the process of creating a new website and more details will be announced in the coming weeks once ready. In the meantime, please refer to our website at .
